HDG SP Jaladuta yatra golden jubilee celebrations (Sept 14th to 18th)

His Divine Grace A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada left Kolkata, India on 13th August, 1965 in a cargo ship named Jaladuta to fulfill his spiritual master’s desire to spread Krishna Consciousness across the entire world. When Srila Prabhupada took this momentous journey, he was 69 years old, wasn’t in his prime of health, had just 40 rupees, some grains and spiritual literatures but his deep faith in Krishna and intense desire to elevate the consciousness of the populace energised him to take this arduous journey.

Two heart attacks, seasickness and uncertainty of any support outside India did not deter him from the mission of sharing the timeless and priceless message of spiritual India with the whole world. People across the world attest to the fact that because of Srila Prabhupada’s monumental efforts, the teachings of Gita and Vedic literatures has spread all over the world and RathYatra has in fact become a global festival.
Srila Prabhupada travelled aboard the Jaladuta a steamship of the Scindia Navigation Company from Kolkata on 13th August 1965 and arrived in Boston Harbour on 17th September 1965.
